I have a question for the engineers and scientists. I just noticed that the wire feed speeds recommended by the door chart and/or the autoset function are WAY different in the MM255 than they were in the MM252 and other welders I have owned. Here is the door chart from a MM252. I think most people would be comfortable with these welding parameters with C25 gas:

And here is the door chart from the MM255. These wire feed speeds are in some cases WAY higher for the same thicknesses being welded, same C25 gas, and same wire size

As an example, for 3/16ths material, 0.030 wire, and C25 gas, the 252 recommends 19v/290 ipm, while the 255 recommends 19.8v/390 ipm. 100 inches per minute difference? That seems really weird to me? What's that all about? Does that mean I can't use the same settings as someone else's machine? I would have thought these things were fairly constant (2 inches per amp for 0.030 wire, 1.6 inches per amp for 0.035 wire, etc.)Miller Multimatic 255 |
