Is an old 1936 Lincoln really usable or just a cool thing to have around the shop?

I noticed this old welder near me.  Do people ever realistically use these machines for work?https://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/t...481486031.html

Reply:I think they're being ridiculous trying to get $500 for a nonfunctional 300A 3ph welder that's covered in rust and obviously stored outdoors. "Antique, circa 1936"...

"Rusty, needs a LOT of work, fire hazard"... I'd love to have a machine like that. Sandblasted and painted Lincoln red, redo the faceplate, etc. You could buy a Lincoln AC/DC TIG for the cost of fixing that one up.Gently let the seller know that during negotiations.

Heck... I'll send em and email if ya want. I'll let them know I'm totally interested at $175 and I'll list off issues with it. You swoop in a few days later and offer $225 then take it for $250.
