Anyone know what my Ajax Porta-Jax tool was meant to do?It came with chains and extension rods. A pipe fitter threwit in with some pipe tools I bought from him a few yearsback. Never seen a Porta-power with attachments like that.Maybe pipe fitting? Auto body/ frame straightening?

Reply:In the old days before the Hurst rescue tool was invented (aka the Jaws of Life), we would use porta power tools to do things like vehicle extrication or in rescue situations (building collapse, cave ins, and like that). The extensions and chains were useful for rolling dashboards or securing a rollover (before anyone actually thought of putting cribbing on the rescue truck). I imagine a pipe fitter would use it like a jack to get large sections of pipe into place.Miller Multimatic 255
