Was wondering if anybody out there has an American Optics cool blue lens they want to part with. I prefer not to spend $500 on one either.  Thanks in advance.
Reply:You may have already owned one or looked through one I don't know but they seem very light for the shade they are listed as. I had one in a shade 10 and it was like looking through a shade 8 totally unusable to me. Guess what I am asking is are you sure this is what you want before dropping enough money to buy a good auto hood on.Ranger 250 thick stuffHobart Handler 140 not thick stuffthe pane and oxy setup
Reply:I used one about 20 years ago and loved it. Could not find one for sale anywhere. Kinda gave up on looking for one. Recently It popped into my head and I started looking around for one. Found them on eBay. Most all of them on a buy-it-now for $500. I absolutely refuse to pay anything even remotely close to that. Just figured maybe someone here had one they didn't want or use anymore they wanted to sell.
Reply:Ah alright if that's what tickles your fancy then by all means go for it

sorry caint help you in the sales department. I put mine on eBay and used that money to buy a new jackson w70 bh3.

Reply:Actually all ADFs provide full protection from UV radiation even in their light state.

Reply:Don't have a cool blue but will say that I wouldn't trade a good gold lens for any auto on the market. Way easier on my eyes. I have found that the autos don't hold up to heat as well. I like Phillips safety. Their gold lens are great. They make a filter plate that is supposed to make it like the cool blue.Last edited by specopswelder; 11-12-2014 at 09:04 PM.

Reply:Try a wens cool blue or the Phillips magenta filter. It adds about a shade to my eye but is a soft blue arc.
Reply:They stopped  making the actual American Optics cool blue because the type of cobalt needed was hard to get or too costly, there is a REAL one on ebay right now but is around $275 I believe,  saw it earlier 2day. There is another company called wenscool that makes one thats similar and almost as good without breaking the bank. Ive been lookin for a genuine  A.O. for years now that wouldnt break the bank, hard to find that are cheap. I'll be trying one of these wenscool lenses soon myself and will update after. Good luck!
