MultiMatic 255 Welder arrived much sooner than expected direct from factory floor, now excitedly reading manuals and set up info and planning out final accessory acquisitions.Props to my local AirGas peeps for hooking me up with a competitively priced unit.

Have a good week everyone!

Reply:A few snags: #1. Welder didn't come with a plug so now i'm scrambling to come up with an appropriate replacement. The clam shell design that seems commonly available is poorly made, there's little or no mechanical separation between the lines inside the plug (it's going to a 240V 1ph feed).I guess I may end up having to buy a short welding extension cable and just chop off one end, it's the only way i'm going to get a commercial quality modular plug that doesn't look like it was created and designed by children in an asian sweatshop.#2. I'm looking at the tig torch options, i'm not a magician with mechanical things sometimes so DiY'ing a new torch seems an impossibly daunting task. The reason I mention this, miller only lists a torch rated for 150 amps as being compatible with this box. This is problematic considering the box is rated for 280 amps DC operation. I do know I want a water cooled torch. The box accepts a 12.98mm lug I know that much, same size as my ****ty AHP box.Waiting on money for tanks of Co2 and or whatever works best for spray transfer on steel and stainless. I'm a newb to mig welding so i've had to binge YT a bit to get my bearings. The ER-70 S-6 hobart spool I ordered suggests 75/25 or 90/10 for spray transfer. What I did end up doing was cleaning up my shop so I had a place to store it until I finish my welding cart that I had half-arsed designed so I could put multiple machines, a few tanks and store some of my consumables. Now i've managed to come down with a cold so i'm stuck at home sweating it out.Last edited by XMilitary; 1 Day Ago at 05:46 AM.

Reply:I know exactly what you mean about those clamshell plugs. Functional but clunky and ugly. A cord with molded plug wired back into the machine is your best option although I've always been hesitant to open up the case on a new factory warrantied machine.

At least that will be easy for 220v single phase. it would probably be difficult to find a factory molded plug to fit the various three phase configurationsSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk: |
