I am just getting into welding and have the opportunity to buy a Ridgid DP15000 drill press.  My planned projects include deer feeders, tables, etc..  Mostly stuff around the deer leases or for my wife.  Would this drill press be adequate for this type of lighter, hobby work?

Reply:IF I looked like the right drill press the lowest speed is 300. This is more of a wood drill press then for drilling steel. Here's something on drill speeds that may help. Drill presses that have a three pulley system generally go slower. Front set by chuck, one set by motor , and a set in between. http://store.curiousinventor.com/guides/drill_speed
Reply:I've been using the Ridgid DP15000 for several years; no problems, works for me.  Used for general shop work.
Reply:I'm gonna give this thread some life again...Just bought a Ridgid DP15000 last night and by the age of this thread and others on other hobby sites, my new drill press is a lot older than I thought.  Looks and runs like new with just some surface rust on the column and base.Does anyone happen to have a copy of the owner's manual they could scan or photo and attach?  Not finding the exact one anywhere online. Thanks a lot!!
