Anyone have experience with Lincoln 5P+ compared to regular 5P? I read the differences on Lincoln's site, but am curious as to what your experience has been. How do they compare and differ?
Reply:I stick with the 5P but that's just me. Mainly because the rod is red and stands out in a sleeve. I've run tons of it and have gotten used to it also. I ran 100lbs of the 5P+ and didn't see a difference. I rarely bench weld or work in a controlled environment if that makes a difference.Lincoln 330MPXLincoln Power Mig 256Lincoln LN-25X Wire FeederMagnum PRO 250LX GT Spool GunModified Lincoln 225¼ Ton of Torches OFC-A OFG-AAir Carbon Arc GougingEverlast 62i Plasma CutterIngersoll Rand Type 30 14hpInstagram: #Freebird Welds
Reply:Solid answer based on experience. That is what I am looking for. Thank you.
Reply:5p+ runs better on machines that are borderline for having the higher voltage needed to run 6010. It seems a little less aggressive than brick red 6010. I had a can of 1)8" Lincoln 5p+ that didn't run very well because on many of the electrodes the flux would flake off in large pieces.
Reply:I've used both, mostly 5p+ because I bought it cheap and stacked it deep thanks to the Oscar Home Depot deal. Seems like I prefer the 5p+ to 5p although I'm not sure why to tell the truth. Maybe because I got it cheap and have a lot of it. They're pretty similar.
Reply:I've run massive amounts of both and like the + better myself. It is not quite as aggressive as the red and seems to freeze just a little faster which helps when welding 14 ga. purlins and the gaps my helpers some times leave on fence joints.
Reply:Seems to me the 5P rods runs smoother and the Plus P has a more aggressive bite with more sparks burning thru my sleaves...We've done so much, for so long, with so little. Were now qualified to do anything with nothing !

I think "Buffalo Bore" sells it.Found it: https://www.buffalobore.com/index.ph...t_detail&p=118 500FtLb muzzle energy in a 9mm. Wringing every last drop out of that cartridge.

Reply:I agree that that the  5P 6010 red rod is definitely more aggressive and has lots of sparks.      The 5P+ is a gray colored rod and runs smoother and a lot less sparks, almost like 7018.The Hobart 6010 I used last was a gray rod, and ran like the 5P+.

Reply:If your welding pipe which is what it sounds like you will have way better luck hot passing and filling with a 7010 like hyp or 85Faster fill freeze than 6010

After being a 1911 guy for years that double action option takes a bit of practice. And yes the Browning is a classic... Mine is Israeli surplus but really shoots good. I think it was pre-trained for me.
