What am I doing wrong. I using Argon and I getting this brown dust and my welds look like crap. I know I am not an expert but.... help. Even my welds look like crap.

Reply:No dignity here. Leave it in a bag by the door and pick it up on the way out. Meaningful help requires all the info. All the settings, rig details, filler, method, etc. The more you give the better the help.

Reply:You may be just cooking the metal with too much heat as it sounds if your changing the metal 3 inches out from weld.Get the tungsten in close and only melt the two egdes you are welding and keep adding the filler as you go into that little molten puddle to give it some height above the base metal.Sometimes I like to have people fuse some edges of two pieces of sheet metal as first lesson when I teach someone to tig. No filler and just run the edge. Just helps you follow the joint and with only the torch to concentrate on.
