Hello.Since new welders have their issues with the 6010s I was wonder how efficiently an old tombstone AC/DC can burn them. Like perfectly good?.
Reply:Depends on what you mean by tombstone. When I say tombstone I mean a Lincoln Idealarc 250, like this:

Some people say Tombstone and they are referring to the Lincoln 225 AC style of welders, what I have heard called a "buzz box" or "cracker box" like this:

Now from experience, I can tell you that the first welder I posted above (the Idealarc) runs any rod you want, like a dream. It is an amazing welder, probably the best welder you can get for stick welding on single phase power. Its not going to duplicate the arc of a SA-200, but its very good in its own right. I hear people say that the 3 phase R2D2 type welders had a nicer arc, same for the old torpedo welders (electric powered motor generators). But most people I know don't have 3 phase powerI had one of the cracker boxes as my first welder, but I never ran 6010 on it at the time, so I couldn't give you an opinion on those.

Reply:Ditto the previous comments. I've burned a lot of 6010 with crackerbox welders. The main thing is that it runs best on DC, not AC.Miller Trailblazer Pro 350DMiller Suitcase MIGMiller Spectrum 2050Miller Syncrowave 250DXLincoln 210MP |
