I have an 80cf CO2 tank that I just got filled. They charged me $35 for the hydro (which it needed) $15 for "filling" and $45 for the CO2.I kind of feel like I got ripped off. I read that C25 is cheaper than CO2. Is it possible to switch my tank to C25 when the CO2 is used up?
Reply:Check with gas suppliers Mind will not fill my tanks after co2 and you need to change the value too.Dave

Reply:Picture of the tank? CO2 comes in two types of tanks: The first is a standard high pressure cylinder that has been repurposed for CO2. Typically steel. The second is an aluminum tank like they use for soda machines or beer kegs. CO2 operates at a lower pressure than Argon or Argon/CO2 mix does. Pure CO2 is actually stored as a liquid in the tank. So you don't need a tank that is capable of withstanding 2000+ pounds of pressure. Around here if you get a typical soda style 20 lb CO2 tank, they are usually just exchanged when you get them filled. $45 for CO2 is definitely a rip off. A 20 lb aluminum CO2 tank is like 37-ish inches tall and holds 20 lbs of liquid CO2 which is the equivalent of 178 cu ft of CO2 gas. You can typically buy these used for $50-100 where I live.

Reply:CO2 is about 4 times cheaper than mix gas. My 20# bottles cost $9 here and they just exchange them so never pay for hydro.
