I offer what I know from 10 years as a technical Sales Rep for ESAB Canada. Might not have all the answers and I'll tell you if I dont.  and yea..i am biased. I personally think that the Multimaster 260 and the Migmaster 250 are about the best-sweetest S6 .035 compact Migs on the market (although pricey compared to a Miller 252 - you pay for what you get), and have higher duty cycles than either Lincoln or Miller in the same class. But put a Bernard 300 (Tweco #4 |P|in), with Centre fire on it...way way better than the Tregaskiss guns offered by ESAB.I also know for a fact by working with both types that ESAB SubArc totally Blows Lincoln 1952 SAW technology away.  Total Junk in my opinion. Their  AC/DC is very expensive smoke and mirrors. Ask me why sometime. Only thing I like from Lincoln in SAW is the their 880M flux - Simply phenomenal.!Plasma:  Hypetherm is the way to go - hands down.  Excellent equipment. ESAB..hmm good consoles but no true multi-voltage, no quick disconnect... what can i say? Ten years we were after Forence to add quick disconnect/multi-voltage...stupid is as stupid does I guess..thats why they cant sell any plasma's anymore.!  I prefer to tell it like it is.As for Miller - overall a very good product line - stay away from their plasma - Hyperthern is the way to go. Thermadyne...hmmm cheap, but thats it...cheap & Purple - weird colour in my opinion. (Made in China btw.!). Company is always in Bankrupty protection...I would stay way.Comments on OEM Chinese equipment. It may be not very good now but give them time...they will get much better and reliable and in time will give the big 3 in North america a huge run for their money.Soooo....need info on SubArc, GTAW, GMAW, SMAW equip / Filler metals.. can do need data sheets, equipment images, filler metals.. can do.need manuals for either North american or European product.. can do.need an explantion on some of the higher end product and what it can do...can do that as well.AND Yea, Absolutely we need an ESAB specific forum...lets not forget that originaly the L-Tec guys were a part of Linde (old Green Linde), which was a division of Union Carbide...An American Company.!

Reply:Welcome,   I agree on the Migmaster 250, Had one (L-Tec) and it was a very nice arc with good duty cycle.   Only sold it cuz I don't have room for it and use the setup in my sig for MIG welding.  I think the MM is one of the best Mig welders ever made for class of machines.  Thanks for honest take on the Plasma.  I like my 875 but got it used for a steal.  Hypertherm will be my next plasma if I ever get one.  Jim Colt will like your post too..    you didn't mention OA but their lifetime warranty makes for a good deal for OA equipment. Oh I do think the ESAB 300AVS is the best suitcase out there.  I had an LN-25 before.   standard 4 roll feeder is very nice.  Check out my CC/CV mod in the ESAB thread.  I just changed to a Bernard Q centerfire gun from a Profax gun based on feedback of those guns here.  haven't had the time to run it yet though.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:Roger that! Even though I was an ESAB rep, I was a tradesman well before. Working with Equipment that doesn't do the job left me pissed. That would include ESAB gear. Prefer to tell it like it is. I think the 3 main Mfrs all have good stuff and all have some lemons. I recall the old ESAB 1000i plasma (built in Japan), the joke was:  Hey Tom, got a 1000i with a problem" answer was "did you plug it in and turn it on?"....yep I would say....."There ya go" he says...problem found!  Total junk. We also had a forerunner to the MultiMaster...an inverter compact mig. 300i, only way to set it was through a difficult to read computer screen. Also junk. PCM 875 was a pretty good plasma...but suffers from issues I wrote about. Still w/PT27 torch and new consumables, could (3ph units), cut 1". I think now that their equipment is no longer made in Florence and its all coming out of Europe, the qualiitycontinues to be very good with some pretty cool & innovative features and abilities. Plasma has a way to go to catch up to Hypertherm though...if in fact they ever will. As for the new pelican boxed off the arc feeders, I always liked the 4 roll drives as opposed to 2 roll. As well, always thought the LN25 was junk ! The old ESAB mobileMasters were problematic as well, although in later years, upgraded main boards made a huge difference. Never had the chance to mess with an 300AVS..oh well. There's a lot of fab shops here that make use of off the arc feeders. I always thought that a shop could, if they wanted, was to use a std cc/cv 400 amp power source/feeder combo and instead of say an LN25, go with a push pull gun instead. 2 advantages: less cable to move about and you could then set up a drum of wire as opposed to using spools. Good for a fab shop..not so good if you're running off a gas/diesel Drive!Cheers,TheoLast edited by Steakman; 11-02-2011 at 01:56 PM.Welding Supervisor/PipeFitter: 35 yrs in..Welding Engineering Technologist('86) CWB Level II Welding Inspector ('91)Alberta Journeyman Welder ('81)

Reply:We run a TON of ESAB Coreweld C6 .052 at work.  I had never run wire that thick until I stated this job.  Lays down really nicelely although the fluidity of the puddle takes a little getting used to.  I run it typically at around 29v (no idea on amperage as I dont know the ipm speeds on the feeder).  We run it with Mison 8c (92/8) gas.  The only downside is it doesnt run out of position well; unless it's just me

welcome to the forums from another Canuck.

Reply:Hi Steakman-Ive pasted this onto your thread but I have also got a thread aboveHi guys, Im a newby here, from Australia.question-I have an "ESAB Orl++arc200" caddy welder (cant read the full model as they cleverly put it on the bottom where it scrapes on the ground!)Im having trouble here in Aus with repairs-ESAB doesnt even seem to answer the phone. If there is an expert on here who may be able to provide a basic diagnosis of possibly where to look for the fault itd be a great help!---when its plugged in, the little power LED on the front flicks on for a second or so then off for maybe 5, and keeps repeating. The cooling fan does the same, flicks half a turn then stops, repeating every 5 secs or so.I can handle basic electrical work (limited licence-marine engineer) but electronics are a bit past me. It is getting power past the on/off switch on the back though.cheers Robbo

Reply:You mean a RPC (Rotary phase converter), you can built your own with a good used 3 phases 230V motor + some electric components(Oil filled capacitors/soft starter) or you can purchase a unit already built (Motor+Box) or just the box and add your own motor. Here a link as a exemple take a look:http://www.temcoindustrialpower.com/...ase_ConvertersLast edited by OldSkull; 03-17-2012 at 05:27 PM.Miller MM211Esab Mini Arc 161LTSEsab Handy Plasma 380Duck tapeTy- rapKool-aid

Reply:Hi steakman: I'm new to ww and have less than 50hrs welding under my belt.  I bid on some equip and came home with bunches of stuff.  Now I have to decide how to confighure everthing and choose what to keep and what to resell.I have picked up:esab 350 mpi, esab svi 300 both w/ linde/esab 31 wire feeders/ tweco whips - both worktwo esab pcm 875 in unknown working condition - one torch connected, one loosetwo miller spoolmate 30a spool guns with wc-24 controllers - unknown conditionLinde vi 206 mig with feeder and gun - works wellI'm wanting to use one of the multiprocess machines for mig/stick/dc tig, and aluminum mig w/ spoolgun. Can the miller 30a spoolgun be mated to either esab power source?  what type of current do the esabs send to their wire feeder/spoolgun.  Which esab power source should I keep and which should I let go?Locally, another linde vi206 is available for 200$ with a wire feeder (another 250$ and they will throw in a lincoln spoolgun and magnum controller).  One LWS repair guy said to snap that up just for spare parts if no other reason--what would your opinion be?Thanks for any input..pete
Reply:Hey Steakman, I have a question about some old esab a9 push pull setups..  Is there a way to run them with a miller xmt300 or lincoln weldan power 250?What all is 42volt in there?  I see it also says 115 volts, is there a way to wire it up to a power source without 42 volts?
Reply:352 esab heliarc  if i turn the knob for more cleaning or penetration past3 have to scratch start .i only weld aluminum skylights and a few years back could turn adjust knob up to 5 and all was well.now i have to resharpen tungsten about every 10 minites.driving me crazy.i am at present restoring a ucc305 linde.bought one new in 85 loved it for 18 years till some freaky problem it had that repair shop said couldnt be fixed.i still wonder abought that.anyways would sure appreciate any help. thank you    charlie
Reply:I'm having the same problem with my 352. Worked great last time I used it then a week ago. Now it will only scratch start. I regapped the spark gap and blow it all out and I think it welds better but still needs to be scratch started.

Reply:80 open volts max. I guess I should read the manual. I use my S32P but that's 24v. I was looking at the esab recently. I like the way they look but that's about as far as I've got on their feeders.Arcon Workhorse 300MSPowcon 400SMTPowcon SM400 x 2Powcon SM3001968 SA200 Redface1978 SA250 DieselMiller Super 32P FeederPre 1927 American 14" High Duty LatheK&T Milwaukee 2H Horizontal Mill

u have any luck fixin ur 352
Reply:Hard Hf starting can be caused by worn spark gap points.  And the new problem I just ran into is broken solder connections on the spark gap mounting board. Check where the coupling transformer wire are soldered on.

Reply:We have a couple guys who might have access to that info.  If u get stuck, check and see if Innovat Corp have your board part number on their price list.   Wether or not they will share their schematic with you I don't know, but I've had a board repaired under their flat rate program and very happy with the work and serviceSent from my SCH-I545 using TapatalkTiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250

On the diode is the number B004 and a second number maybe serialnumber 13730378. Here in Europe I can't find any replacemend. Even ESAB Sweden can not help me. Do you have a solution for this problem.best regardsBobbes
