I’m in a make do situation, have a 230iMig but am off grid & don’t have big enough clean power generator to run it at moment.I do have a Lincoln SP130T 230 amp, 75/25 gas, Lincoln.035 solid wire. Not optimal machine for what I need to do, but hopefully workable.I need to weld set of rear spring & shackle hangers onto the chassis rails.I need to weld the ¾” plates to the ⅛” chassis rails and then weld three ¼” pieces between the bigger side plates and ¼” hanger to the mount. Will bevel the edges where can on the ¼” pieces. The pics are of first chassis I built.Thinking of two options, run one or two passes with smaller welder & then finish welding with 230 iMIG or make multiple passes with smaller welder. One thing want to do is seal all edges & seams so moisture can’t get between pieces. Otherwise would just tack everything good & finish with 230iMIG.Need to mount the spring & shackle hangers so can work on tub.Cheers, AllenSorry about the huge pic size!

Reply:What is a "make do situation"? Cannot get another machine? Cannot run flux core? Cannot buy a stick welder? Is mig/gas what was provided? That 130 is 230v, Correct? The 230 is an option?Flux core would be my first choice if i had to use the 130 machine.Last edited by tapwelder; 1 Hour Ago at 02:16 AM.

Reply:I would pre-heat the parts to 300 degrees F and try the welder you have,,HF sells a cheap propane weed burner that will heat those parts in no time,, DO NOT be bashful with the propane,, the heat REALLY helps,, |
