I bought Hobart Mig 190.Friend is hooking up to 30-amp and using 10-gauge wire to receptacle box in detached garage.Wire run is about 75 feet.Questions:Will I be able to gas weld 1/8 or 10-gauge mild steel, by following the chart on inside cover of Hobart welder? Or will the long wire run make the welder a little weak?Would making the 10-gauge wire 12 feet shorter make a significant difference in welding pentation?I never weld before but want to learn.Aloha,Eric
Reply:You will be fine at 75 feet. In fact the owners manual only calls for 14 gauge up to 67 feet. You could get by with 12 instead of 10Last edited by Louie1961; 7 Hours Ago at 08:29 PM.
