I've read some good comments regarding X-Tractalloy removing bolts broken off below the surface. Sometimes I work on equipment which has a bolt broken off below the surface.I know there are a number of products available to weld on the end of a broken bolt for removal. Super Missileweld, , X-Tractalloy, AG600, simple 308 stainless electrodes, etc. Some of these products are designed specifically for removing broken bolts below surface because they supposedly do an excellent job of keeping the weld puddle off the internal threads in the hole where the bolt is stuck. Because of this, I'd rather use one of the products advertised specifically for bolt removal, since screwing up a hole in an engine block can be a difficult, or time consuming repair. So my question is, has anyone used BD3000 for broken bolt removal? The manufacturer claims the product works as well as X-Tractalloy, which I've read on this forum, works quite excellent.BD3000 is a fraction of the cost of X-Tractalloy, but in the past I've not been super impressed with other Blue Demon electrodes or flux cored wire, so I'm wondering if someone has tried BD3000 for broken bolt removal?
