Looking for a new set up that will be on propane. Very small odds of ever being run on acetylene. It will used maybe 2-3 times a week for general farm and fab. Cutting and heating only. I wont be welding with the torch set up. Is the 1-2% chance of ever being run on acetylene worth looking at acetylene kits? I want to stay with Victor style torch due to the availability of tips in my area. Or should I just set up completely on propane and go? Also, Ive looked at the 2 dedicated propane set ups that Victor offers. Anyone have any experience with these kits? For my application that I explained above, is it recommended that I step up to the HD kit? Or would the medium duty work? Im all ears. Thanks in advance.
Reply:You can buy just about any traditional O/A setup, and convert it to propane. Just a matter of changing the cutting tip.The crap about changing hoses, and regulators...............is just plain crap. Regular regulators will run propane just fine, and so will the hoses. Just purge the system after you use it. |
