MIG Weld Hammer

I needed to buy a newBall Peen hammer for my work truck. I stopped by Home Depot, they had a goodly assortment of framing hammers, but no ball peen hammers, the racks are all empty. I chanced to see a rack labeled Mig Weld Hammer. I was curious about what kind of hammer I would need for MIG welding. There was another rack with the same label and it had one hammer in it. It was not a hammer for MIG welding, but rather the head is welded on to the handle shank. I was a little disappointed, as a MIG hammer might be useful, for banging out nozzle deposits, hammering off wire that is too long, beating in a new tip into a stripped out nozzle. It would really help you produce a bang good weld! Oh well, maybe I’ll stick with ball peen hammers instead. As a side note, in addition to the ball peen hammer, there was not a can of black spray paint in the store, no 100’ extension cords, no 5 pound fire extinguishers, and no DeWalt 11 amp, 4.5” angle grinders. So I will have to start hunting on my way to a job tomorrow.
