someone told me lincoln is stop making lh70.    that is very terrible, cuz thats my fav 7018, i been using all along.      that mushy xcaliber has its place, but i use more lh70.     i tried calling lincoln last week, on hold for hrs., no one comes onto the line in appplications/tech support .      i dont have time during biz hrs this week to make the calls to confirm this and or tell them off.     anyone heard/know?       i bought a few extra cans , one being 44lbs,.     anyone know whats up w/ the 44 lb loosely contained in  cans in a 50lb dimensions?     do they think were so stupid, that we dont get whats going on w/ that.      actually kinda fed up w/ name brand co's lately that think they are it.Last edited by 123weld; 1 Day Ago at 08:48 PM.
Reply:Jetweld® LH-70  Looks like its only available in 44lb(20kg) cans, all the other sizes from 3/32" to 1/4" by 32ths are in 50lb cans. Might just be a supply chain issue. Could be changing over to metric, who knows ? As much as they try pushing all the Excaliburs, I don't think they would drop the Jetweld line. They still seem to list the Murex 6011, but only in 50lb cans.JET-LH® 78 MR®-RSP  I think this is the same rod but in 5lb. retail packages for big box/retail stores.Good luckAirco 250 ac/dc Heliwelder Square waveMiller Synchrowave 180 sdMiller Econo Twin HFLincoln 210 MPDayton 225 ac/dcVictor torchesSnap-On YA-212Lotos Cut60D

Reply:I've switched to Atom Arc.  Both Acclaim, and the regular Atom Arc 7018.  I like the better "bite" on these rods.  They run hotter, and dig deeper.  A real plus for my small transformer machine.Atom Arc responds very well to a straight drag, minimal manipulation, technique.  The arc force drives the puddle where you want it, without having to smoogie the puddle.I haven't run the Atom Arc on the engine drive yet, but I'm sure I'll be happy with it.

Reply:There's 2 varieties of the Atom Arc 7018.............................Atom Arc 7018 (which I'm using), and Atom Arc 7018-1 (which I'm not using)I got into the Atom Arc 7018 because it was advertised as a deeper penetrating arc.  I LOVE it.  It lives up to the hype.  It's the old style 7018 that a lot of us are used to.  https://www.esabna.com/us/en/product...m-arc-7018.cfm  It's a nice crisp rod with a driving arc.Atom Arc 7018-1 is a different animal.  https://www.esabna.com/us/en/product...arc-7018-1.cfmAcclaim runs softer, and has a heavier slag covering.  I've been using it for a while, and it's quite similar to Excalibur, but runs hotter.  https://www.esabna.com/us/en/product...18-acclaim.cfm  Between the two rods, I prefer the Atom Arc 7018.  (The Acclaim does run hotter than Excalibur, but it's probably only apparent to folks that do a lot of 7018)Atom Arc 7018 is fairly reasonably priced.  https://www.airgas.com/product/Weldi...p/ESA255011827

Only I would store rods by the bathroom door in the house

Reply:When using a lot stick I would have over 500 pounds in storage.  I did like paying over $30.00 per box of 50 pounds. Dave
