I've been watching some of the Clickspring videos and I find them fascinating. The author of the video is trying to reproduce usable files, like they would have made a couple of thousand years ago. This video is one video of many about the ancient Greek solar computer, the antikythera mechanism. It's very addictive once you begin watching. If you're a machinist or a hand tool geek I think you will enjoy the series.Lincoln Precision TIG 185.Flex-Loc 150 torch.Super-Flex hose.Lincoln MIG 180.Victor Oxy/Act torch set.DeWalt Bandsaw with SWAG stand
Reply:Fascinating! I had no idea carbon case hardening could go that deep.
Reply:I love that guy's videos! I've watched them all at least twice, and I'm always amazed at the quality of his builds. That Antikythera Mechanism is just so much genius, and I really like how clock-makers are able to extrapolate information from what they already know of making gears and such. There's so much of history that we don't know. That tooling he used to cut the spiral grooves... genius. I won't spoil it for those who haven't watched it yet, but, yea, genius. I would never have thought of that even though it seems so common-sense. |
