Stopped in to Aero All-Gas last week in Hartford. Was treated like a valued customer. Wasn't ripped off. A real pleasant experience. So different from the sh*t heads at Air Gas (especially the Cheshire store). Reply:I personally like Maine Oxy...Naugatuck or South Windsor. Great people really good prices on gas. Oh and they're open till noon on Saturday, unlike the airgas in Waterbury.Miller Multimatic 255

Reply:This hazmat charge is unreal. I was charged hazmat for a stainless brush at Airgas. I went back the next time and had it removed. I bought 3 TIG machines from them and a hypertherm 85. Reply:I agree. I used to deal with Abco in South Winsor and they screwed me last time I went in now that they are air gas. They would not give me an acetylene bottle any bigger than a friggin plumbers torch. Reply:Cited some BS with Homeland security and that I did not have an account with them. Reply:Yeah,Well another one bites the dust to AIRGAS...I have 2 - 330 tanks rented from them... about $50 a year each .... I can't wait to see the price hike... IF THEY even let me continue renting them... The whole country is turning into a monopoly of money grubbing corporations. no more mom and pop businesses.

I have 4 -330's (O2-Argon-MIGmix) that I've just "inherited" over the years and have no rental fees. I've had no problem swapping them out at Hocon (despite being out-of-date and with various lineage at times). AigGas is going to F that up I'm sure...

Reply:I decided to go with Hocon too (Norwalk). So far the change to Airgas hasn't been as bad as I thought. Took my 300 down, had to "lease it back" for around $80 last Spring but Now I can take Any of my 5 300's down, one-at-a-time, to get refilled (plus the couple of 125 & 80's which don't require a lease anyway). They don't know the difference, all my account shows is that I lease a tank from them. I think I can go more than a year without refills because I've collected so many cylinders. I'll just make sure they're all filled when the 1yr contract is up and way down the road might need another contract. And between that time I have another friend with a contract if something unusual comes up...In June, I ordered a 330 cu ft tank of 90/10 gas for my new MIG welder. I can't find the breakdown, but it cost me $230 all in for the first year lease, the gas fill, and the delivery. I was shocked that they would deliver to my home. I believe (not 100% sure) the breakdown was around $80 for the yearly tank lease, $24 for the delivery and $126 for the gas, hazmat charge and tax. Having had a spinal fusion in February, it sure was nice to not have to wrangle a 330 cu ft tank in and out of my truck. They will also deliver anything they sell in the store. Want them to throw in some welding rods, MIG wire, some gloves, etc? No problem. I'm pretty sure its a flat rate charge for the delivery. They come through my town at least 3 times a week.
