Turned it on this morning and it shut off just like it tripped a breaker. Have 118v to both legs up to the transformer. Not sure what to look for after that. Can't see any visible signs of burnt boards or loose wires. Have nothing showing on the digital read outs.
Reply:Make sure power is off, ohm out the main transformer to ground, you shouldnt have to open it since the secondary should not be referenced to chassis ground. There should be no current path to ground on either the secondary or the primary side of the transformer. The machine just has a on off switch no? Not a breaker on the front panel? The circuit breaker that feeds the machine doesnt or does trip?
Reply:Power source breaker doesn't trip. With machine unplugged and switch off. No continuity between ground and primary or secondary.Has no breaker on the front panel.

Reply:How do the 3 blue capacitors look at the bottom of the wire feed side?
Reply:Capacitors look good from what I can see of them. Nothing burnt or bulging.
Reply:Sending it out for repair tomorrow.
Reply:Hey one more thing, if one of the main SCR's are bad in the voltage control/rectifying bridge it will short the main welding transformer and cause a huge in rush of current and trip the breaker. Cjheck the SCR's by removing them from the large heat sink and testing with a multimeter.

Reply:It's gone out for repair. It never tripped the breaker.
Reply:Hello,  Any updates on the repair status?
Reply:Got my machine back. They said they had to rewire the input wires because there was no power to the switch. I had power when I checked it so if that's what is true than it must've been false power. It still has the original cord and plug on it and I can't see where anything was done on the plug end. I didn't pull the panel to see about the other end. It's working and right now that's all that matters.
