Primeweld TIG225X Hand Control?

Hi y'all,I picked up a used Primeweld TIG 225x and finally got around to trying the hand control, which doesn't seem to work right. When plugged in, the amperage is no longer adjustable, and the number goes down to something around 15-20 and acts funny (like somewhat adjustable with the AC balance or frequency knobs). Arc lights, but is weak and sputtery. 1. Do I have the wrong control for the machine? Or is it kaput? 2. Photo below, if anybody can tell me if that's the same one that came with their machine. 3. If I need a new one, can you buy a new one of these simple switches for the Primeweld? I'd rather not spend $100+, which is what I'm seeing online.4. Because the TIG225x and the AHP Alphatig have the same foot pedal, I'm assuming they use the same hand amptrol, but I can't seem to find many low-cost options for that one either. Any Thoughts? Reply:It is just a switch on and off. If its not working then it won't turn it on or off. Reply:Thanks, I'm not sure what other controls I would have to set right other than 2P. There's no foot/hand control switch like I've seen on other machines.
Reply:First anyone selling a used primeweld tig 225 is either selling the broken one that was to be returned to Primeweld under the warranty agreement or it should work. Reply:He had a reasonable explanation for why he was selling the welder, as he was a traveling repairperson and that welder is actually quite large. He also didn't like the knobs printed out on the bottom of the dials, and I agree that this is a design flaw that makes it hard to read the machine when it is below eye level. I doubt he was ditching a failed unit, but hey, you never know. It seemed more likely to me that he grabbed the wrong switch when he was looking for all the parts. But I don't know how I would know that just by looking at the switch. I opened up the plug, and the switch goes to 1 & 2, while 7 & 3 are connected to each other. I found a video about the AHP foot pedal (which should be the same pedal as the PrimeWeld) that included a schematic of the plug suggesting the 6 & 7 are connected, so I might try connecting those two and seeing if that's the problem.Here's the link to that video for anybody who'd interested:

I have only used a pedal with my machine and have not tried the switch. Does your machine work properly with a pedal? Reply:Indeed, order has been restored to the universe! I got the soldering iron out,melted that jumper right off of there (so only the 1&2 were connected) and voila, the switch now works! Thanks for the help!
