Hi, new to the forum although I used to lurk here for a while years ago. I've been trying to decide on buying a Hypertherm 30xp or 45xp. I like the dual 120/240V power options of the 30xp and most of my cutting will be 1/2" down to 16GA. The 30xp can work mobile locations that don't have 220v power, but most 120volt power is on lines with 20amp circuit breakers so you're limited to thinner cutting. But I do have the 220v power and air compressor in my shop to handle the 45xp and have a chance to get one at a good price right now. My question is- With the correct consumables, is the 45xp as good or better than the 30xp when doing fine line cutting? Are there any good reasons to get the 30xp over the 45xp?
Reply:The 45XP cuts thin material with essentially the same quality as the 30XP. The advantages of the 30XP: Smaller, lighter, runs on 120 or 240, priced lower than the 45XP. Advantages of a 45XP: more power, available machine torch, available marking consumables. Jim Colt Hypertherm |
