Thoughts on the HF stand up Drill Press's?

I am in the market for a home use stand up drill press. I work with mild steel and basically 3/8" is the thickest material I work with and that's only on a special occasion. About 90 percent with be 1/4 and 3/16" thick. I have a friend that works there so I can get employee discount. Will these work for what I want or is there a better option? I want to stay under 600.00
