I bought a nice heavy old Lincoln Idealarc 250 ac/dc/? and noticed the plug cord had been replaced with heavy house wire. What is sufficient plug wire so as not to lose amps? Will 8-3 work in rubber coating? thinking 15 ft cord. 8-3. My local store has it in 25 foot lengths. but thinking 25 foot bit long to hold amps? or.. do I need 6-3? This is the old heavy lincoln Idealarc machine that is 250AC/ 300DC ( got it for $175 but could have had it for 150- but they had to hold it for me.. it is near mint)

Reply:Thanks everyone. just ordered 10ft of 6-3 SOOW wire. Hoping SOOW is SO? Also, think 10 ft is too long for a welder plug cord? Longer the better but don't want to loose any amps or very little.

Reply:The outlet from panel runs 15 feet. uses 6/3 coaxial.
