Hello, I was wondering if I could use a 5 hp rotophase to make 3 phase for this machine. I only have 60 amps single, it requires 80 on single. Will it work? It requires 50 amps on 3 phase. Or do I have to purchase a buckbooster for my needs?Thank you in advance. Gary.Last edited by citytrucker26; 12-16-2020 at 09:21 PM.
Reply:Run it on single phase.5 hp rotary will do  nothing for it.. I am not sure where you get your specs but 80 amps input is way off base..Unless there is something really wrong with your machine..Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i

Reply:Page 3-2 table 3-1                    1 PH.       3PH.208VAC.    100A.        60A230VAC.     80A.         50A460VAC.     50A.        30AI don't know how to upload pictures otherwise I would just take one of the manual that came with it. I just typed it. So your telling me ESAB manual is wrong ? I am going to hook it up and see what happens. I have 3awg on a 60 breaker with slow fuse shut off for supply. Over kill yes. For the big millers, not enough.I have a big 320AB/p that throws the breaker (60a) at 80 amps AC tig with HF. Thats the reason I got this welder. I hope it works out. I thank you for the info.Last edited by citytrucker26; 12-17-2020 at 08:22 PM.

Reply:I run mine on single, and 3 phase with a 15 hp rotary. You will fine on single phase, it will tig weld on a 30 amp 240 volt breaker all day at 200 amps output..Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i

Reply:Mine starts up just fine on a 20 amp 240 volt line It crazy to worry about something that will never happen.Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i
Reply:It's a Lorch-based machine, they're very, VERY efficient for the input amps. Ignore what the book says, it's way too conservative, and is rated on stick welding, not TIG. You'll run TIG on a 30 amp 230v service all day long, every day, at max amps, and it won't complain! For reference, my HT200 (same architecture) runs 200 amps out, at 19 amps input 240v on TIG (in the book). It's hardly going to take an extra 10 input amps to jump to the last 20 amps of output.Last edited by Munkul; 12-18-2020 at 03:58 AM.

Reply:The effective line current is only 27 amp on 230 volts. Go look at the specs page 2-3.The way I read the table you found is. minimum building size entrance. the service disconnect fuse size is from the table on 2-3. Read the fine print around the tables on both pages. I found on line this manual.  Issue Date: October 26, 2016  Manual No.: 0-5346
