I guess this is safety related....  I made a friend a set of arm guards for Christmas, my first time making these.  They turned out ok but I think I got the straps on the wrong side?  My question is, how many of you sure enough welders wear them?  Where do you get them and about how much do you pay for them?

Reply:I use Armchaps and they cost $48 a pair. I use them for everything. It has a hidden zipper so that there isn’t loose parts that would get caught in something that is spinning like a grinder. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:in my neck of the woods nobody wears arm guards. i think their a pipeliner's accoutrement. nice job of crafting them.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:I dont like them. I wear leather 'sleeves" once in a while when I have a long period of  welding. They go from the shoulder to the wrist.I generally use the left.Last edited by Bonzoo; 01-04-2019 at 11:08 AM.

Reply:There's a website that sells them. They were expensive as I remember. Some were embellished with the lone star if I remember.I don't see anything wrong with the straps. Can't you switch left to right? The straps would then be opposite. No?

Reply:so do you perforate the leather before you stitch it to make it easier or just go at it with needle in hand.  Needle in hand requires a beast and patience.  I stitched up a wrap around steering wheel cover.  Man that was no fun.Lincoln, ESAB, Thermal Dynamics, Victor, Miller, Dewalt, Makita, Kalamzoo.  Hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting tools.

Reply:Be nice to have if you put some insulation on the inside, like some of the new welding gloves they have these days.I can't count the times I have to sequence welds so I'm not leaning on hot metal from the previous weld. Also be handy to ward off the blows from K'kins when I forget to take the garbage down to the highway on Saturday

She sure packs a wallop for such a little lady.

Reply:Leroy, I have no use for those but they are beautifully made. I would love a murse, knife scabbard, belt, made with that skill and attention to detail. Let us know when you start selling your stuff? You should have the Harley crowd lining up outside soon...Do not believe everything that you think.
