Hi, I have a Thermal Arc 185 Tig and a Hypertherm XP 45 Plasma Cutter. Both are "small" Inverters...Looking to build a Cart to keep them on.The Thermal Arc has a bottle of course.Did a search and getting lost in the sauce.Anyone has pics of a Welding Cart they built and some ideas...Happy to see/hear, about the build!Miller Dialarc 250 AC/DCThermal Arc 185 TSW Stick/Tig AC/DCCebora 175 MIGHypertherm PowerMax 45 Plasma Cutter
Reply:You will find many different designs for welding carts, many to fit the welder and associated equipment. My cart has tig on the top mig under it and the water cooler on the bottom. Loops on the side for cables, it has a power connection box for incoming power with outlets for the tig and mig. I have both Argon and C25 cylinders on the back, this make a rolling package with a single power cord as a travel limit. One of main things is large wheels on the back under the cylinders and wide enough for stability and small caster type wheels in the front.DIY CNC Plasma table USB BOB Price THCHypertherm 65Everlast PowerTig 255 EXTMiler 180 Mig13" metal latheMill/ DrillECT, ECT,

Reply:Do you have an old boat trailer that you could cut up for parts??

Reply:Hi, Thanks, materials are not much, but will probably go get some angle iron as that is used for everything.I have some scrap "I" channel I'm going to try and use and some old steel expanded metal for the bottom.I have some old 10" wheels and casters.Have to see if the wheels are strong enough as I believe they are spoked instead of solid. All of this stuff is in my metal junkpile and I try to keep that to a minimum.Saw this link from England, the Brits are good Fabricators, I mean they did build the Spitfire, right?https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/...trolley.54651/

Reply:Something like this may work for your small inverters.

Reply:Hi, Thanks! Here is the material I'm trying to use.It is not "I" Channel but "C" Channel, I believe. It will make the cart heavy, but I'm going to make it as small as possible. Not enough expanded metal so will use some old sheet metal. This stuff has been laying outside so will be a little work just to clean it up but that is normal...When you have a small shop and room is limited!

The corner brace on this cart is purely cosmetic. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk:
Reply:Hi, Thanks, I really see no reason for the brace?Yes. I want cable holders and even a small tool box included, for the small things, for the Tig and Plasma Cutter. Also some kind of pedal holder?Miller Dialarc 250 AC/DCThermal Arc 185 TSW Stick/Tig AC/DCCebora 175 MIGHypertherm PowerMax 45 Plasma Cutter

Reply:I just don't understand why the welding carts have such small front caster wheels. One misplaced pebble, nut, etc and the cart gets hung up. My store bought cart from Lincoln is like that and its an absolute PIA when I wheel it out of the garage onto the driveway or patio and a small rock, twig, etc jambs the dinky caster wheels. Let alone trying to wheel it across the grass to my barn. Why reduce the front caster size to near nothing while keeping large rear wheels?

Reply:One thing for sure make you cable holder with the arch design as shown in many here, the hoses inside the lead will thank you.

Reply:Hi, Thanks... On the small casters on the front...I think it is that they have to swivel to steer the cart...Another reason might be cost?I'm trying to build this cart from steel I've actually had laying around for 20 or more years, but...Just retired, so getting to some projects, I have been putting off, because of time.I have some small swivel casters and plan to use them, instead of buying new.Admittedly, nice square tubing and new bigger casters, would be better but that's not going to happen this time? Thanks again, everyone, great ideas, here!Miller Dialarc 250 AC/DCThermal Arc 185 TSW Stick/Tig AC/DCCebora 175 MIGHypertherm PowerMax 45 Plasma Cutter
Reply:Hi, Something else I'm going to try and add is a place for the old vintage tool box that I keep all the small stuff for the Tig and Plasma Cutter.I hate looking for something that I need for the machine in the middle of work. So, toolbox, cable hangers, pedal holder, tanks, and maybe filler wire holders,...Have to see if I can get that all in space wise?Miller Dialarc 250 AC/DCThermal Arc 185 TSW Stick/Tig AC/DCCebora 175 MIGHypertherm PowerMax 45 Plasma Cutter
Reply:There is a dedicated welding cart posting.https://weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/5...ead-Post-Em-Up!!I would suggest making the width set for two machines set side by side and two tanks .This will provide future space for additional machine and bottle storage. Large front wheel bolt on swivel casters and 8" wheels for rear. Harbor Freight casters and pneumatic tire are holding up well on my carts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
