I received this new unit and it is really a nice unit the finish on the exterior is high quality the torch is very nice I am fortunate enuff to have some competition torches handy like the the trafimet s75 and the hypertherm duramax series machine torch and first impression is it has had a lot of thought go into it and uses high quality consumables the shield is heavy copper much better than trafimet and on par with hypertherm in some areas the electrode appears to be high quality as well, the torch is very comfortable to use the miller ice torch I used to have on my 375 extreme is not even comparable the trafimet has faults in this area as well and both because of the configuration of the safety , having the water trap factory installed is a big plus and follow the hypertherm model the control panel it easy to use and of very high quality the knob is a good size to use even with gloves on and has the feel of top quality parts. If you are in the north Texas area and want to try this machine for your self it is available for you at anytime

Reply:Unit seems awfully pricey for a Chinese knockoff. I can get a Hypertherm with machine torch for what they want for this unit from what I saw on the Longevity website.
Reply:If Longevity would make a few changes to the 42i that they have on the 62i it would be a lot better unit and would probably sell more.Install a main power switch like the 62i not that cheap rocker switch. A standard air fitting instead of that euro fitting and mount the fan to the chassis not the plastic back cover.I think the 62i has a lot going for it but it is about $800+ over priced. Most people can buy a Hypertherm, Miller, Lincoln, Etc. for $2200+.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:The 62i is built to compete with the top name brands uses much higher quality components and is built in a different factory, I was told it's built in the thermal dynamics factory in China.Last edited by jbr; 04-26-2015 at 10:40 AM.LONGEVITY 250EX w/ 25' weldcraft cs310 torch

Reply:I think they should update the web site.Miller and Hobart are ASSEMBLED in the US by US workers, from parts imported from all over the world. But are not MADE in the US. They can't make that claim any longer under the law for what ever that's worth.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:ESAB was originally a swedish started and owned company. But in 2012 it was bought out by Colfax Corporation, a US-based company in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.  Last year they bought out Victor Technologies which also owns Thermal Dynamics and Tweco.  Lincoln's plasma cutters are made in Italy.  Hypertherm plasma cutters are engineered and assembled in the US only. That's exactly what it says on a brochure I just picked up for the Powermax 65.  The parts are imported I'm sure.   Most of these companies assemble the product they sell here in the US but the majority of the components inside them are made overseas.
Reply:Exactly!  I'll by a Hypertherm all day over a Longevity for only a few hundred more. At least I know parts are easy to come by just about anywhere.  Now if it was selling for $1600 then I'd consider it.

Reply:Taken from ESAB's website.  http://www.esabna.com/us/en/about/history/bio.cfmSince Kjellberg founded Elektriska Svetsnings-Aktiebolaget (ESAB) in Sweden in 1904, the company has led the welding industry in engineering and innovation, never losing sight of ESAB's original mission to provide its customers the highest caliber of products and services.
