Hi y’all,Why would a weldor want the Esab Miniarc 161lts over the Everlast 200sti? Other than being 10lbs lighter, it looks like you’re losing 40 amps for $100 more. Is one better at Tig? They both seem relatively mediocre at that anyway (lift start DC tig with no pedal option)...

Reply:I have dealt with customer service from ESAB and have read many horror stories about customer service at Everlast, Longevity, Lotos, AHP, etc. There is no way I would pick a chinese mail order unit over an ESAB, even with the cost difference. Esab's service is fantastic.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:I personally own and use the 161. It is a sweet little unit. Esab service will shame the other brand.
Reply:Another happy 161 owner here. The literature for the 161 says it was supposed to come with a sample pack of electodes,  mine didn't.  I called Esab to let them know id didn't get any electrodes. They sent me a can of 3/32 7018 AtomArc.Eventual master of the obvious, practitioner of "stream of consciousness fabrication".  P.S. Reply:I have 2 ESAB 161 at the school.  I often use one for stick/tig demonstrations.  Very good machines.I second Louie.  I'm not going to deal with Everlast...for several reasons (not because they are Chinese made)I have the nearly identical Thermal Arc 161 at the home shop.  I use it for portable work and often use it in the shop just because it's already hooked up and handy.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:Esab, 3 year no BS warranty. Neverlast, a whole new way to play screw the customer games. IMO, a snake has more ethics than Everlast.Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Reply:I have had mine for 5-6 years now, paid $410 for it. I figured if it made the 3 yrs then crapped out it would be worth it.Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Reply:I was going to buy the Everlast PowerArc 210STL, but it looks like I'll be heading over to ESAB. I bought a 2019 Amico MMA-200 and they lied on the specs, it went back. The spec sticker on the back was (more accurate) different than the manual and the product description. The accidental "spec lies" always favor the product, have you noticed? To get those Everlast DC TIG options and Arc, Hot start Adjustments would I have to go with a full blown ESAB Rebel EMP 215ic?
