Some of you may have seen this elsewhere. The Ford fox chassis that the 1979 - 2004 Mustang is built on was used in a few other vehicles. One such vehicle is the 1985 Ford LTD sedan and station wagon. The following pictures will depict what I have done so far with my Daddywagon project.

The truth is what is in the pictures is a total of about 3 weeks of vacation time. The initial tear down of 2 mustangs 1 for engine and trans and 1 for suspension and brakes and the install into the wagon was a 2 week vacation 2 summers ago. Last summer was the installation of the independent rear suspension. You can also see I acquired a 351 windsor and have converted it to a roller camshaft. The Daddywagon is not done. The 351 has yet to be installed and I have wiring, and plumbing for fuel and brakes, and exhaust work left to do. I am planning for a big push this spring and summer. I love posting about it and will update as it gets going again.
Reply:I imagine a lot of people don't like the old station wagon but I think this project is cool. Never been a big Mustang fan and the fox body is the 2nd worst in my opinion. The wagon with all the suspension, brakes, and drivetrain is gonna be a bad *** ride.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:F4te block? And a motorsports extender? I had no idea anyone used those anymore. Talk about a blast from the past.

Reply:Awesome sleeper project! Are you going to keep the woodgrain, or trick the body out too?

Reply:I see you've kept the tow hitch so far!  That is a heck of a lot of work there....I like it.

PS - Me likey the woodgrain.

Reply:Thank you for any and all compliments! The woodgrain stays and for sleeper wheels I want 2006 or later crown vic steel police wheels powder coated white with chrome centers and chrome trim rings. The cobra brakes necessitate 17 inch wheels.
Reply:So I want some clarification...Are we looking at not 1, not 2, but 3 cars being assembled into 1 with 4wd, a V8, and EFI conversion? All it seems to be missing is a mattress in the back.My name's not Jim....

Reply:No 4wd. Not yet anyway. Although the latest Ken Block gymkhana mustang has awd. Google hoonigan. Awesome car right there.
Reply:I thought I saw tie rods for steering in post #11, but I see those weren't for steering now.  In my defense, I had just got done spraying paint before commenting. My name's not Jim....

Reply:Very cool build!I've been thinking about a very similar project using a Country Squire frame & body. Upgraded to 4x4 and I6 Diesel.Kudos for actually turning a nice idea into a real car!Be wary of The Numbers: Figures don't lie,. but liars can figure.Welders:2008 Lincoln 140 GMAW&FCAW2012 HF 165 'toy' GTAW&SMAW1970's Cobbled together O/A
Reply:The Daddywagon is primarily a bolt on project. I joined this forum because I would like to be more of a fabricator. My plan is to buy a tig welder so I can develop some fabrication skills. Maybe be more creative.
Reply:This thread brought to mind another Great Wagon, the Family Truckster driven by the Griswold family to Wally World.

Reply:I have a question. Why go for the irs? Wouldn't a modified 3 link provide a better launch to mortify the kids? I used this setup years ago on a 79 muscapri. Removed the top links and built a long 3rd link to tie to a modified trans mount, this really worked well, eliminated wheel hop.RegardsDave
