I run the 2297 for all cutting and welding.I've searched usable life (hours) but cannot locate anything definitive. This thread had one reply which indicated 8 hours at one co.https://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.ph...pirator-filterI'd be happy to hear what others think the breakthrough time is. Trying to maximize usage but not compromise safety. Thank you.
Reply:I found this on the 3M site.http://extra8.3m.com/SLSWeb/serviceL...nited%20StatesI use the 3M 2138 filters, but that is a European number. In Europe we have different numbers than you guys in the USA, but i think that our 2138 is sort of the same as your 2297. Both are 'Particulate protection + Nuisance level organic vapour and acid gas. Our P3 is the same as your P100 i think.I found this at 3M europe.http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/4...data-sheet.pdf"Particulate filters (3M 2000 Series filters) should be changed when breathing resistance becomes difficult (i.e. breathing is against a clocked filter)."Fronius Transpocket 180Kemppi minarc 150Esab powercut 400
Reply:I agree, when it's noticeably more difficult to breath through them, change them out. I think I've changed mine out 2 or 3 times since I made that post, simply because I don't use them all that much, it all just depends on the "season".

Reply:I try to use them whenever I remember and trying to remember more, things are getting rougher in the breathing department as I age, so I'm trying to protect what I've got left.
