Setting polarity for inner shield on Lincoln 350MP

Hi everyone - I'm about to try flux core on my 350 for the first time. I realize that it is negative polarity. On mode 6 is the correct polarity automatically adjusted to negative internally? or do I manually switch the leads to electrode negative? I scanned the manual but couldn't find the matter addressed.Thanks, Allan
Reply:Pretty sure you have to switch leads if you don’t have polarity switch

Reply:I did a physical polarity change and the results were good. Initially I used electrode pos and it was a spatter storm and lousy bead. EN was the answer. My only thoughts initially were that the setting #6 might automatically do an internal polarity change. Now I know it's a physical change requirement. Strange it wasn't apparent in the manual. The hint was in the trouble shooting section..... Thanks again.
Reply:Leogl, you were right! Thanks! You'd think that an expensive machine would have an internal polarity change if FCAW Innershield was selected. I'm learning.
Reply:They make it like that cause a polarity switch makes it more exspensive . What size inner shield you going to run.
Reply:I've decided to try .035 to start. The knurled roller wheels for the 350MP are over $120CAD per set. The next would be .045 but I'll have to see where the hobby goes.... I'm just thinking of taking the machine outdoors from time to time where gas coverage would not be an issue.
Reply:Well I have run lots of .068 and bigger but I have never run the small stuff but from what I have seen it doesn’t ever run a pretty bead
