Hi. I'm new to welding and this forum. I am buying a MIG welder today (Miller 175) and it just dawned on me that I don't know anything about handling or hooking up the gas cylinder for the MIG (the welders I used in class were already set up). I plan to use Argon/CO2 (25%) gas. What do I need to know?
Reply:It should be pretty much covered in the machine manual. If the gas nut on the hose where it connects to the regulator has a groove around the hex, it's left hand threads.Don't employ excessive force on wrenching the gas nuts, they do NOT seal on the threads.Make sure the cylinder is properly secured, so it can't tip or fall!!Don't be afraid to ask the gas/welder dealer questions, part of his service is keeping you safe.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:Thanks, Franz. Thanks for the tips. I took your advice and asked many questions of the dealer. I am now the proud owner of a MIG welder and cylinder!
Reply:Glad to hear you found a good welding supplier. It should be an ongoing relationship that will bear fruit for you.Appreciation Gains You Recognition- |
