So what is everone using ? Iam looking into getting one since iam 90% time at work tigging. iam looking at the miller XLix one. anyone use speedglas and how do you like it ?
Reply:wolfgangGo with the Big Elite....It's worth the extra $$$. Still on sale @ B&R welder for $218 and free shipping.  XLix is still a good choice if the funds are too tight.Don
Reply:Wolf- I have a miller/hobart American Eagle that I like alot...very light and works as it's supposed to. It has two sensors and some folks prefer four especially if you do alot of out of position work in restricted or odd spaces. Also it is solar cell powered which can be a problem when it eventually dies as you can't just pop in a new battery. I'm sure more knowledgable folks than I will jump in and help out and you might try a search as this topic has been covered pretty well in the past on this site. Good luck "All that is required for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing"
Reply:I have had 2 jackson hoods both sucked!!!!  poor quality did not hold up to everyday use.  I currently have a Hornell Speedglas and love it it is very light, easy to use, and has shade 5 side sheilds for good perifiral (sp?) vision.  Highly recommended.  Make sure which ever one you choose get one with variable shades especially if you tig alot.Ron ShopFloorTalk Millermatic 350P, M-25, M-40 gunsDynasty 300DX, Coolmate 3, Crafter CS-310 TorchTrailblazer 302, 12RC, WC-2430A spoolgunSpectrum 2050Thermal Arc Plasma Welder PS-3000/WC-100B
Reply:well i did a serach and read this thread http://www.weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread...ight=auto+dark everyone say to go with Optrel Satelite anyone know who has the cheapest price on one ?have you hugged your miller today ?
Reply:I've been using a Speedglass almost exclusively for over four years and like it better than any other helmet that I've tried.  It has good peripheral vision, is very light, is easy to put cheater lenses in, has auto-recharging off of the arc and the batteries last about two years.  Besides having different shade ranges, it also has a sensitivity adjustment so that no matter how small of an arc you are running it will darken which is great for those small tig jobs.  Speed glass gets my vote.
Reply:I guess everyone's different. I've had a "Jackson Next Gen" for over a year now, and really love it.
