I have welded a total of one time and it was just a quick attempt to see what I thought of it. I loved it and want to get a welder but due to being poor (Air Force Member) I am asking for your inputs on what welder I should get. I have read alot of the post here about what welders to get and constantly the MM210 comes up. I can not afford that much. What I need to be able to do is work on my 69 Chevelle, body work and some frame work I have planed. I also plan on building a rotissorie for it.I hope I posted this in the correct forums and thanks for any inputs given.
Reply:Well, after doing some review I think I am going to try and find a Miller 180. Seems to be the best price or at least in my price range and should do what I want.
Reply:The Hobart's get good ratings too.  The 180 ($650) is for 230V and the 140 ($470) is for 120V.  You may also find a deal on the HH175 or HH135 (discontinued) some people like them better that the new models.  I have a Craftsman version of a Clarke 130 ($350-400) which I find OK but most feel they are inferior to the Hobart Models.  You can get a Hobart almost as cheap.  I think I'll get a HH180 or 175 soon.
Reply:You're putting a rotissorie in your chevelle?  NICE!  Hobart BetaMig 1800Esab Handy Plasma 550TA Pro-Wave 185 TSW
Reply:Keep your eye on the classified ads.  I was just about to give up and purchase a MM210 new when I finally found a MM250X for about $300 less than what I was going to pay for the MM210.I'd definitely recommend going with a 220V machine.  I used a 110V machine for a number of years, but the duty cycle just got frustrating.  Also, if you are planning on building a vehicle rotisserie, you want something that will give you a good, structural weld.  I don't think that you will get what you want with a 110V machine.Last edited by PAToyota; 03-22-2005 at 09:46 PM.
Reply:Dont forget about the Lincoln machines, they are nice also.  Also, check out HTP's units at www.usaweld.com.  They have a variety of mig units that are egual to the larger manufacturers offerings but at reduced prices.  HTP's customer service and shipping time is very nice also.  I have a multiprocess machine (Mig,Tig,Stick) from them and have had no complaints.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
