Hey all,Writing from Michigan, where it is going to be raining or possibly *snowing* on and off over the next 4-5 days. I have a mudroom off the back of my house that has wraparound windows that I could open up on all sides to provide good breeze / ventilation. I have removed all flamable materials (paper, paint, solvents). The floor is linoleum, and I have a 4' x 8' sheet of .020 guage steel I can set on top of the linoleum. I also have two fire extinguishers handy. That said, can I get away with welding in the mud room for the next few days without asphyxiating myself or burning the house down? Are there any other precautions I should take? PS - If my insurance agent reads this, I am just kidding.
Reply:What welding process???I'm pretty casual about doing TIG in most indoor and messy garage situations (I do keep a fire watch, etc.). I'll MIG in a clean spot in my messy garage but usually try and weld at floor level. Any stick welding for me is strictly an outdoor activity due to the contents of my garage. I don't have any O/A but I'm guessing I'd treat my precautions somewhere between MIG and stick.TinkerCentury 135GS, ThermalArc 250GTS |
