Hello, Recently got back up on a project *full frame, drag car* which has been tack welded and fully welded in some areas with a mig. I recently got a tig machine, and I would like to know if it is possible to tig weld over areas that have already been tack of fully welded with a mig ?Thanks for taken the time to read my post
Reply:Yes, I do it all the time because a mig is the only way to try to tack something up. Tig is to much trouble to try to tack your work together. You will see when you start to tig over it the mig weld will get nasty looking on you but will then flow into the metal as you work begins to melt. You can look at the mig weld as filler rod.Yes I can tack it for you. I know that won't hold but that is what you asked me to do.
