Is it possible to produce an effective plug weld, using MMA? If so, any tips / tricks (e.g. whole diameter relative to plate thickness)?TIA,M
Reply:A proper plug weld in plate say over quarter inch thick is really a fillet weld around the inside of the diameter. Filling in the diameter does not really add much to the strength. Most of the plug style welding I have done is either filling in a depression adding little to the strength but looking good or... a larger hole that is described by fillet weld symbol giving size of fillet all around. If you are involved in filling a hole to level stop on deeper holes and remove glass and flux. |
