miller time questions

hi heros and gurus  i just inherrited a miller AEAD 200LE with 500 hrs on it and a miller bobcat 225nt with 20 hrs on it, a  victor journeyman rig with large tanks, and a scott 125amp dc alternater welder powered by a 7.5hp robin engine  and several hunded feet of hoses and leads. all of these units look like new and work like new. ok that said, i have several probs. i can run these fairly well considering i havent done much welding since i got out of the navy 30 yrs ago....but the aead 200 has a miller high frequency arc starter (model no. hf-15-2) on it for tig of which i know zip **** nothing about. all i know is it has a flow meter and full tank of argon and a foot pedal and torch. its greek to me. also i just bought a mm175 with standard whip and gun. now the main question is anyone remotely familiar with these units to know if i can buy one spool gun setup to fit the 175, aead 200 and the bobcat without having to buy one for each. miller rep would like to sell me one for each for big bucks of course. i havent figured out yet why i need all these but what the heck i farm and things break so i might as well put them to use.
Reply:you inherited a miller aead 200LE.   The bobcat 225 I definately can sit in the same boat with you on.  But the AEAD Ive never run one.  HOwever, Im told its teh predecessor of the legend.  Tig is awesome for welding any metal and its also real handy on thin stuff.    I believe you only need one spool gun.  YOu will I beleive need a few adapters....not positive.  But one spool gun.  for the bobus youll need the WC 115A with contactor.   What this is I realy dont know.  Just know you need it lol.  This will allow you to run the spoolmatic  30A which is a 200amp  rated gun.  I dont know what it takes to run this off your lil 175 though.  And the AEAD its old enough it too I don tknow.. I would think youll need a WC 115A for it too.  oh,  the wc 115A is weld control.  Miller docs says it provides control circuitry to operate a spool gun from miller and competive engine driven products.   Incldudes contactor.  If this aead is as good as the legend its a better machine...providing its running good, then the nt.  The 175 will do fine for your smaller stuff, and can be powered off the bobus.  I dont know about the aead.  Good luckWelcome to the board and hope you enjoyIF it Catches...Let it Burn
Reply:thanks Chris, for the info. my brother and i had an aggreement he do the welding and i do the wrenching. im stuck with it all now. after 20 yrs of welding in the navy he spent another 20 in his own bus. of welding. the aead was his field welder and it runs awsome. he took pride in his work and his equipment. i think the reason he got the bobcat was more for backup for power outages so his 200 wasnt tied up. i'll try the 175 on the aead and see if it handles it and maybe set my sights lower for a controler and gun for the 175 as i dont see needing to heavy duty of an alum. rig on the farm. now i just need to learn to tig. ohboy thanks....jim
Reply:Dont worry Jim, if you can oxy fuel weld,  you can tig weld   Good luckI have a bobus 225 and I like it.  Some give it bad reviews, but it does the job.  I think youll be happy with either.IF it Catches...Let it Burn
Reply:hi all. well i went a couple rounds with the local miller dealer, miller rep today and some guy at the factory on the other end of the phone and they all agreed that i could hook up a miller 3545 spool gun and control unit 100c to both the mm175 and the bobcat 225 but not the aead 200le. i ask, why not the aead 200 and they couldnt tell me why not, just that it wouldnt work. go figure. seems as though they are in the business tell sell me a new one then retro fitting and older one.
