Hello,Is there a thread or other media that contains basic information on welding for beginners? Things like MIG vs. TIG welding, safety precautions, etc. . .Thanks.
Reply:Check out the manufacturers' websites:www.millerwelds.comwww.lincolnelectric.comBoth have support sections with a lot of information to read up on. You can start here: http://millerwelds.com/education/dictionary.htmlIt is a dictionary of all the basic welding terms - explaining what MIG is vs. TIG and shielding gas and all that stuff.

Reply:Comp , I know you want to find stuff online butt.... I was lucky enuff to have my weld supply company give me the "Welding Handbook" form the American welding society. It was an older version, 8th edition to be exact, but free. If you really want to learn ALOT try and find one of these anyway you can- heck they may even have it at the library. Actually looking at it right now. Volume 2 welding processes. It covers from the basics of electricity to power supplies and shielded metal arc welding (stick) to electron beam welding. That book is like my bible! Johnny
Reply:JohnnyWeld...That was a real gift. Those things are pretty expensive...and, coveted.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
