Not a welder but I work on vintage vehicles( 1 willys wagon, 2 willys trucks and 2 40's Mopars) and need to expand my tools to a cutting torch. From reading some post here I think a 40 - 75 cf tank will be a good size for my needs but I am wondering if the gauge set ups fit on all tanks or do I need adapters for different size tanks. Reply:Assuming that you ar etalking about argon argon/co2 mixes, yes, they are the same. The gauge will screw right in.
Reply:I am looking to use this as a cutting torch so I will be using Oxygen Acetylele Tanks Is argon also used for cutting I thought it was a shielding gas but this is a new field for me so all help is appreciatedFor Information about Willys Utility Vehicles http://www.oldwillys.com/
Reply:Sorry, apparentlt I did not read it correctly. Disregard any cooment/post I may have made.
Reply:There are two different fitting classes on the tanks, CGA 300 and CGA 540. If you're going to be doing cutting, I suggest you get the standard CGA 540 style tanks and regulators because they can support the flow requirements of the cutting torch. CGA 300 is similar to what you find on something like a small cylinder for a handheld propane torch.
Reply:You can get the adapter pretty cheap. I think maybe 15 bucks or less. I think I got mine from tractor supply.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'. |
