I'm looking to buy a Porta Cable C3151 from toolking Reconditioned for $229.99. it looks like it can keep up with a Hobart Air Force 400. Any comments or suggestions? I can also get it new from toolking for $319.99. I know bigger is better but I am buying for a future business which will be mobile so everything I get has to be portable. Any input would be appreciated if there is a better portable unit out there for this job.Drivesector Hobart Handler 140Hobart Handler 180Ready Welder 2Hobart Air Force 400Airco Stinger 225Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most."OZZY"
Reply:Im sure i'll get lynched for this... but... oh well. I have a craftsman 2stage. It's an oil-less unit, LOW rpm ( not noisy like most oil less units )... ok, not annoyingly loud. At anyrate, it keeps up with my Miller 375 withno problems. It dont seem to like an air powered 3 inch cutoff wheel, or an HVLP paint gun. But I have no complaints however. I wanted an actual oil lubed 2stage, but couldn't justify payin 800 - 900 for one. The things I have read ( and have a little exp with ) is the oil less units will wake the dead. high rpm, light duty cycle. My .02.. not sure if I helped or hindered... but there ya go.Robert
