mig welder?

I am shopping for a MIG welder and I don't know which one to start with. I have concidered the Lincoln Electric 135 or 175. Also looked at the miller brand. Miller is more expensive, is it hte name or are they that much better. Any advice would be apppreciated.....Alex
Reply:Lincoln has two new machines coming out, so if you are one that wants the latest, check out their new units. They are the SP140T,and the SP140Cwhich is the 115v unit, and the SP180T, and SP180C, which are the 220V units, as was with the SP135 and SP175, the "T" stands for the "tapped" voltage adjustment, whereas the "C" is for the continuous voltage adjustment. Either way you can't go wrong, as I'd be willing to bet distributors (and various websites) will be discounting the older units in the near future, you can't go wrong with the Miller units either. I sell this stuff for a living and my only advice to you would be to buy the best one you can afford, you won't be disapointed. I don't want to knock anybody's equipment on this board, and agree that a guy's got to buy what he can afford but we see far more warranty claims from Hobart Handlers, and the Lincoln units that are sold in the "Big Box" stores than we ever do of the better Lincoln and Miller units.
Reply:pick a color, red or blue?go with the 175 if you can, for the small price difference the 220v machine should definately be considered. also consider the "plus" vs. of either lincoln machine as the variable controls can be very handy at times.

Reply:Nobody like esabs? my shop runs 3, "260 multimaster", "250" & "203" migmaster. I perfer them to the too the 2 new miller 251s they have. Atlest check out the prices and performance. Just use the bernard center fire tip system though. (or you'll be waiting for shiping sometime).  Thanks, Eh!
