I am wondering what are the differences of:ASTM A513 steel AISI 1026 steelBoth are DOM tubingmy application is welding a 1.625" OD, .188 wall doubler for engine mounts to a buggy tubular frame made of 1.25" (.06-.08" wall) round tubing. I'm not sure which material was used to make the frame. I have welded with A513 on this frame using ER70S6, but I haven't welded with 1026 yet... Are they about the same strength, elongation, etc?
Reply:a513 is the astm specification 1026 is the aisi steel grade designation typically dom is a type 5 of the astm spec a513 type 1 is generally round or sq/rec flash in or flash controlled ..70tensile wire or 7018 works,a tig root with 7018 pass as long as its clean works best |
