The name plate of Lincoln AC-1200 Power Source reads as follows:240A at 30V to 1200A at 60V.X = 100%U2 = 44VUo = 30-86 VI know 'Uo' represents the 'Open Circuit Voltage' which is 86 V max. What is the Working Voltage, 44 Volts or 60 Volts?
Reply:The voltage will depend on the arc gap when welding. If the gap is closer the voltage will drop. This is determined by the design of the transformer. I presume you are going to use this unit for submerged arc.... likely twin wires? The operator will set the wire feed and indirectly control the voltage. It is best to ask Lincoln Electric. Generally they are very helpful.
