Reply:TIG. Hands down.http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:general repairs.....my stick welder
Reply:Tig, mainly for the fact that I find it the most enjoyable process.
Reply:One welder?   Well I guess I'd buy a multi process machine..... hey still restricted to just one welder, just not restricted to only one process_________________Chris
Reply:I used O/A for years and did most everything that needed doing.
Reply:Tig can weld nearly anything...except for dirty material.  ..and if it's that dirty, I don't want to weld it anyway.
Reply:tig machine all the way..add a stick holder..2 machines for the price of one!...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:AC/DC tig stick.  I have grown to like the ease and speed of wire fed, but all my stuff is rusty, greasy, painted, or worse.  I used a miller dialarc almost exclusively for years...it did everything I needed.  The only reason I bought other welders was for specific tasks or because they were great deals.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:One machine AC/DC. Many uses.
Reply:Tig because you can stick weld with it too.
Reply:Well depends on budget, right now, I just own two migs so id have to say a good mig is hard to beat.  Then again i hardly ever need any alum welded.Chuck
Reply:Just one welder??!!    That would be as bad as being restricted to just one rifle!!    Don't even want to think about it!!    I would have a hard time choosing between a stick welder and a mig. When the  drops the  stops!Check out my website at:  Tombstone 180 ACHandler 120Millermatic 210Powermax 380Harris & Victor torchesSawzallChop Saw

Reply:Stick/Tig- Gas Driven...
Reply:Limited to one welder, O/A. Second choice being a MIG with spool gun.
Reply:There are power supplies that can run pretty much anything with the correct attachments.  That way you don't have to make the decision.  The XMT-304 can do everything but AC TIG.
Reply:If you mean one machine, I would get a CC/CV power supply so I could use it for MIG, TIG and Stick. If I was restricted to one process then definately TIG.Washman
Reply:I'd have to go with TigI r 2 a perfessional
Reply:The multiprocess welders are CHEATING!! Yep, he shoulda stated what process you would prefer..Well, I think this question is a trick one... Being relatively new to welding, Id have to say that gas would be my answer to cover both multiprocess and process?  It does just about everything, so is it a multiprocess???  But, when electricity is available, gotta luv the simplicity and quickness of a good mig..  The downright scary control of a tig, and the do anywhere through anything stick...  Decisions Decisions..Well, Ive decided to change the scope of the question and say Which one would I not prefer?  Well, from a noobe standpoint, stick is definately the messiest, Health threatening process, but its the coolest when you wanto scare the neighbors (Gotta luv the smoke and Fire man).  AND I like scareing MY NEIGHBORS!! dangit. Sorry dude, can't make a decision.  Gonna stick with all of em.  Go ahead, think Im crazy, but this is like a Pringles commercial, you just cant have ONE..Various GrindersVictor Journeyman torch200cf Acet. 250cf oxygenLincoln 175 plus/alpha2 gunLincoln v205t tigLincoln 350mpEsab 650 plasmaWhen you can get up in the morning, Its a good day.Live each day like its your last.
Reply:I think it depends on what the whole perpose is, if just steel I would go with  the mig. If a mix of stainless, aluminum and steel I would go with the tig.I now somebody already said this but with the mig you can also have a spool gun that also welds aluminum, I would go with the tig just because of the multiperpose.
Reply:ROFLMAO ! ! ! ! Doolittle you da man...... side step it..... well you are correct i ment to say one Process, but i got side tracked..... Sorry. but i got the jest of most everyones preferences..... me i like Gas if its light weight metal, but i like stick too.... Mig has yet to really impress me, i started TIG class today, so that is still left up in the air.... seems like a lot of stuff to remember, with me being 53 i can and have been known to forget, so maybe i better stay with stick.but when i get done with my Harley payments i will get me one of them there mulit-process engine driven machines so i won't have to decide or chose between, well maybe not, then i will have too many to chose from.... dern the bad luck....  MikeHH210Hobart Champ 10KLincoln Buzz BoxCampbell Hausfeld 115Victor JourneymanMilwaukee 14" Chop Saw7" Chop Saw4/12" horz band sawmetal benderother toys forthcoming.
Reply:If I was restricted to a 1 process welder, I would pick stick.  If I am restricted to only 1 welder I would definitely pick a tig / stick  AC/DC machine. Got the best of both worlds then.  Can go thin and multi metals to thick and dirty.Don > ASME High Pressure Vessel
