I Bought A Piece Of Plate Steel For A Welding Table Top This Week, At A Local 2nd Hand Steel Yard. It Is 37"x28"x 3/8" And Rated *ar*. Would Anyone Be Able To Tell Me What *ar* Is? They Did Say That Its Alot Stronger Than Normal Mild Steel, And Double The Price!
Reply:AR = abrasion resistant Common around earth work. Dump bodies, buckets, blades.
Reply:I thought it meant pirate approved.

Reply:A problem you will probably have is the plate will end up being magnetic & affect the welding being done on it .
Reply:Thanks Guys for the information!! The steel yard sold it to me for 60 cents a pound, normaly it goes for $1.25. If this plate becomes magnetic how will this affect a weld?
Reply:Causes the arc to wander and follow the magnetic field (AKA arc blow). You can try demagnitizing with an ac coil of some kind. but try it out first, it may be ok.Various GrindersVictor Journeyman torch200cf Acet. 250cf oxygenLincoln 175 plus/alpha2 gunLincoln v205t tigLincoln 350mpEsab 650 plasmaWhen you can get up in the morning, Its a good day.Live each day like its your last. |
