I'm building an awning off my shed - running out of room inside.I'll be using 65mm hollow square posts. They will be welded to a base plate and bolted to the driveway. The top of the post will be sealed.Am I going to get condensation (and rust) inside the post eventually?I've used some of these posts in my unfinished carport and I left a small notch where the post met the base plate and I sprayed fishoil in there. Not sure whether I should do this again?Scott
Reply:Well Scott. If your building something thats going to be stationary then I would'nt worry about anything..Trailers and over the road equipment see mucho abuse and road salt in the winters..I dont believe you'll be "driving" the awning around.. Use the tubing....it'll probably out last all of us.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I only make things that don't move - apart from gates that swing.I'll go with the sealed post.Scott
Reply:Condisation is always a consern but if its trully sealed it sould not cause a problem. The problem I had on one project the tube was not sealed and water go inside, over time and it froze and busted the side out.
Reply:If you don't have problems with freezing then I wouldn't worry._________________Chris
