Hey guys,I was looking at welders and trying to decide on one which suites my needs.I'd like to get a welder that can weld 1/8" steel, can weld with gas, and can weld a little aluminum (even if I have to push it through the MIG gun).I decided that the Hobart 140 would be good for me, and the price really wasn't that bad either. I went to go look at it in person. They were out of stock.I stumbled upon what I thought was a spool gun at first glance.. but it wasn't it was a MIG, but instead of wire feeding internally, it did it through a gun. This product was called the Clarke hot shot welder.Has anyone heard anything about this? It's duty cycle even seems to be a little better than the hobart unit I was considering. It has a 2 year warranty, and a 10 year limited warranty. It runs off 120 V 130 Amps, is this comparable to the Hobart? It only cost about $40 more..I just wanted to know which I'd be better off with.. in your professional opinions

Reply:You know, I went ahead and took a risk, and got the lower end Clarke unit. I must say that I like it!I was also worried that it wouldn't be powerful enough, but so far I can already tell that it will fit me fine!Took me about 5 minutes to assemble, and my first Gassless bead was a lot better than I expected. I'm also suppried that the spool gun is made entirely of plastic (other than rollers). While I will need to be extra careful with it as a downside.. it is lighter than a regular mig gun. Welding with one hand is not a problem. We'll see how aluminum goes once I find out where I can pick up some gas.
Reply:Yep, I love my little 130EN, it takes a licken' and keeps on meltin'. Post up a pic of your setup.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Can this unit function as a traditional mig feeding wire from the unit, or only from the spool? If you don't have the time to do it right, then you definitely don't have the time to do it over.
