Magnifier lens bracket for Speedglas

I've heard of a ..oh, sorry, I'm a newbie. Not to welding though. Glad to be here. Hope to be able to help and get helped. Anyway, I've heard of a bracket to hold a diopter lens inside a Speedglas but can't find hide nor hair of one online or in a store. Is this just an urban legend or is there really such an animal?

Reply:I'm not sure what a diopter lense is. If its a regular magnifier lense welders use it will fit between the outside cover lense and the filter. I work with a guy who uses one.
Reply:I've been using reading glasses, but I get hollered at 'cause they're not safety glasses. and I don't like those bi-focal safety glasses.I'll try putting it behind the outside lens like you said Spuddown. Thanks!
Reply:I told a friend of mine I was having trouble seeing the puddle with my auto helmet (Jackson) and he quickly installed a spare "cheater" he had sitting around. Magnified the work nicely. Decided not to tell his that I couldn't see as my helmet lens is an 11 and I think it's too dark. :-)Anyway, I don't know about Speedglas but the diopters/magnifying lenses, aka cheaters, may not need a bracket to be installed. Reply:Fuseit I just had that problem. If it's the same helmet it will go between the outside glass and the auto lens. The weld supply guys fixed me up because I had to get batteries for mine. It's one my son hadn't used for a long time and it kept going dead out in the cold. I like the lens in there alot better than trying to wear glasses.
Reply:I just taped my 2.0 diopter lense inside my Speedglas hood with some wide clear tape. Been working well for years. CormMM251, SP125+, Hypertherm 360, 180SD, old Sears 285 amp buzz box
